Crested Butte, Colo. (Ski Press)-With over two feet of snow going into the Finals and Super Finals of the 19th Annual Subaru U.S. Extreme Freeskiing Championships, there was bound to be big air. And there most certainly was on the final day’s venue, which included parts of Staircase, Hand Rail, Body Bag and Dead End.

There has been a steady snowfall in Crested Butte Mounatin Resort since Saturday morning, many competitors, including top woman, Claudia Bouvier, of Vail, Colorado, simply had fun with the surplus of snow during the competition.

Bouvier skied an aggressive, high speed line into looker’s right; stomping her way down a beautiful pillow line, known as Hand Rail, and finishing off her run by shredding giant slalom turns in the deep pow through an open gut down the middle of Staircase. Her stellar powder skiing earned her a total score of 67.97.

Behind her in second was Hazel Birnbaum, of Kirkwood, California, who also skied with the aggression and fluidity that the judges love to see. In third was Jess McMillian, of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, who skied an impressive technical line through Body Bag, nabbing her a total score of 65.50.

For the men, Griffin Post, of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, came out on top with a high score of 94-flat. Post skied two first-place runs today, for both the Finals and Super Finals. Both runs were the same technical line through Body Bag, which he skied with unprecedented speed, fluidity and aggression. He sealed his top spot by straight-lining and stomping a 30-foot air.

“Coming in first place, it's always pretty stressful, but I had skied the winning line before, it'd be stupid to deviate from anything besides that,” Post said of his second run.

Behind Post, was Cliff Bennett, of Snowbird, Utah, a seven-year veteran to the Freeskiing World Tour, who skied a similar line to Post’s in Body Bag. In third place was Caleb Mullen, of Crested Butte, Colorado, who opted for getting big air off of Cheeseburger Cliff, which nabbed him an 86.90.

After Crested Butte, the Subaru FWT continues on to the famed Cirque at Kirkwood, California. Mountain Sport International will again be producing daily videos, photos and stories posted on www.freeskiingworldtour.com .
